Agricultural essays from G.I. Christie's period in Indiana, 1903-1928. 1905- 1928.

In 1902 Christie took his degree from O.A.C. and then attended Iowa State College for postgraduate work. From 1903 to 1905 he was an assistant in agronomy at this College. In 1905 he accepted a post as assistant in soils and crops at Purdue University, where he was promoted in a year's time to the Department of Extension of which he became Director in 1909. From 1917 to 1918 he was the state food director for Indiana. He was appointed assistant to the Secretary of Agriculture in Washington in 1918, becoming Assistant Secretary in 1919. In 1920 he became Director of the Experiment Station at Purdue.

The No. 4 Wireless School specialized in training wireless air gunners (WAGS) and saw approximately 5,150 went through the course. The trainees also went to a training facility near Brantford (Burtch) for airborne training where they practiced operating radio equipment in Tiger Moth and Norsemen aircraft. George Irving Christie was born in Winchester, Dundas County, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) in Guelph in 1902 before migrating to the United States for post-graduate training. He acquired a B.S.A. degree in Iowa in 1903 and his D.Sc. from the same university in 1925. Christie became secretary of the Indiana Corn Growers in 1906.
